Overview

We begin with a complimentary French breakfast in the area Saint-Germain-des-Prés at the café Les Deux Magots, where influential writers such as James Baldwin and Richard Wright spent much of their time. We'll explore many historical sites in and around the 5th and 6th arrondissements as we make our way over to the area of Pigalle. There we'll discover why the area at one point earned the nickname “Black Montmartre”. But no Black Paris tour would be complete without visiting the historical area, Chateau Rouge aka Little Africa, with its many shops and businesses.

You’ll receive an Unlimited Metro Pass that we’ll utilise to get to locations not within walking distance. The tour will then conclude with an amazing meal together at one of the best African restaurants in the city where we can share our favourite things about the day (Meal Not Included In Price).

La Rhumerie

A stop inside this Rum House that's existed since 1932, founded by Joseph Louville, a Caribbean man from Martinique and still owned by his family to this day.
Bookstore Presence Africaine

Présence Africaine started as a pan-African quarterly cultural, political, and literary magazine, published in Paris and founded by Alioune Diop in 1947. In 1949 it expanded to a publishing house and bookshop. Influential in the Pan-Africanist movement, the decolonization struggle of former French colonies, and the birth of the Négritude movement, we will step inside and explore it's rich history.
Pantheon

The famous French mausoleum which celebrates the lives of prominent French figures, was originally built to be a church. We'll take in the view from the outside while highlighting those of African descent that are buried and/or recognised here, as well as French abolitionists.

We'll walk through the area that became the extension of the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and 30s. With a large amount of jazz clubs and black owned businesses started by African Americans living in the city, we'll take note on some of the most notable locations.
