An abundance of magical northern winter phenomenon await you here at The Reindeer Grove's celestial nighttime winter experience. We'll first meet in our historic Talkeetna cabin that has a colourful history as a saloon in the early days of Talkeetna, and later a community gathering space and retreat centre. The Sistine Chapel of Alaska adorns the ceiling of the rustic, yet artistic log cabin. After a quick introduction to the evening, we'll head outside, our path lead by twinkling Scandinavian ice lanterns. A Swedish fire log will relieve any nordic chills that may be nipping at your toes, as northern winter nighttime temps can dip well below zero. Fortunately for the reindeer, this is when they're most comfortable as their robust winter coat of 5,000 hollow hairs per square inch let very little heat escape their bodies. Feed these magical creatures some of their favourite lichen treats and feel the luxuriousness of their winter coats. If the opportunity presents itself (under clear skies and enough solar winds), we'll turn our attention upward and view the brilliant northern winter skies and perhaps the aurora borealis (a.k.a. northern lights) and other celestial bodies.
