Full Day Safari

While you holiday at Arugam Bay, make time for an exciting experience of wildlife and nature at the Kumana National Park. Offering you full day Kumana jeep safari tours, we’ll show you the hidden wildlife treasures of the national park that is situated approximately 30km south of Arugam Bay. 200 hectares of the area dedicated solely to bird watching specially during the months of May and June. You can enjoy splendid moments watching over 200 species of birds during your Kumana jeep safari tour. Some animals and bird varieties you can see in Kumana are Elephants, Leopards, Golden Jackal, Wild Boars, European Otter, Mugger Crocodile, turtles, pelicans, painted storks, Lesser Whistling Glossy Ibis, Purple Heron, Great Egret, Indian Pond Heron, Weathercock, Purple Swamphen, Intermediate Egret, spoonbills, white ibis, herons, egrets and Duck Black-crowned Night Heron.

Your tour will start with us picking you from your hotel in Arugam Bay. We will travel with you to Kumana by jeep and enter the park at 6:00 am, one of the best times of the day to spot animals. We will explore the park for several hours in the morning, stopping for a picnic breakfast and followed by a longer lunch break in the shade of some giant trees. We will resume our safari tour after lunch when the heat reduces and the animals become active once again. We will exit the National Park at 6:00 pm to head back to Arugam Bay.
