What you can expect

Escape the bustling city of Kuching to explore the famous longhouse in the village of Sarawak on this half-day adventure. Experience the unique culture of the Bidayuh people, marvel at the longhouse's bamboo architecture, and learn about the local people's daily lives.

A convenient pickup from your Kuching hotel begins your journey through the countryside towards the picturesque region of Sarawak. When you arrive, your guide shows you to a traditional longhouse, built by the local Bidayuh people and renowned for its intricate architecture made primarily of bamboo. Snap some photos and listen as your guide explains the construction and purpose of the structure.

In the front of the longhouse, called the Baruk, built as a fortress to protect the building from attack, you can see human skulls hanging around the fireplace as a symbol of bravery and power. Take some time to explore the village and get acquainted with the people as they go about their daily routines of rice pounding, winnowing, basket weaving, and bamboo carving.
