Venture into the countryside to discover the peace and serenity of Laos as you explore the area on 2 wheels. Ride along the banks of the Mekong, Nam Xuang, and Nam Khan rivers and travel past jungle-covered mountains, rice paddies, and rural villages on this full-day excursion.

Begin the day by meeting your guide at your hotel, and then go to a shop to pick up your mountain bike. Start your adventure by leaving town and heading down the Mekong River. Cross a communist-era bridge, and then visit a traditional village, Ban Xieng Lek, which is renowned for its artisanal weaving and mulberry paper.

Continue along the Nam Xuang River for excellent views of mountains and tropical forests, and then it's time to go off-road. Kick it into gear as you cycle up and down lush hills and pass vast rice fields. As you bike through the village of Ban Leum, stop to learn about local life and meet a few people from the town.

After leaving the village, your next landmark is the beautiful Wat Phon Phao, known in English as the “Peacefulness Temple.” This Buddhist temple, a golden stupa, is perched on a hill overlooking a vast forest and the city of Luang Prabang, making it the perfect place to get away from the outside world but still not be too far away. Wander around the temple, and then make your way back to Luang Prabang with plenty of time for a night of sightseeing on your own.
