Upon your arrival at the designated meet-up point, Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary, you can anticipate the presence of your experienced birding guide, who will join you promptly at 6:30 am. Subsequently, a 45-minute scenic drive from the meet-up point will transport you to the prime birdwatching location.
As you arrive at the destination, your immersive birding experience will commence immediately. The majority of this captivating session is designed to be conducted on foot, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural surroundings and observe the diverse bird species in their habitat. The planned duration for this enriching activity is set at 3 hours and 30 minutes, providing ample time for a thorough exploration of the avian wonders that inhabit the area.
This region is home to some of India’s most treasured and elusive bird species. From the vibrant Malabar Grey Hornbill to the striking Indian Pitta and the elusive Sri Lanka Frogmouth. Few other remarkable species found here include Malabar Trogon, Flame-throated Bulbul, Crimson-backed Sunbird, White-bellied Blue Flycatcher, Jerdon’s Nightjar, Sri Lanka Bay Owl, Spot-bellied Eagle Owl, Oriental Scops Owl, Mottled Wood Owl, Blue-eared Kingfisher, White-bellied Woodpecker, Grey-headed bulbul, White-bellied Treepie, Malabar parakeet, Malabar Woodshrike and Malabar Barbet.
