Vines and wine have been present in Sardinia for around 5,000 years, i.e. since the Bronze Age.
The winemaking vocation is deeply linked to the history and culture of Sardinia, as well as to its environment. That the environmental context is and has been ideal for wild vines is demonstrated by some of the oldest specimens in the world.
A large number of wild vines domesticated in prehistory and Antiquity are still cultivated today: they are native vines, true genius loci, that is, an intrinsic characteristic of an environment and the habits of those who live there.
