The Catania Chamber Orchestra specialises in the revival of the Italian opera tradition. Made up of orchestra professors graduated from the most prestigious Sicilian conservatories and the most promising young people from Catania who have distinguished themselves in the main opera and symphony prizes at national and international level, the Catania Chamber Orchestra offers in this 2024 Musical Season an interesting cycle of opera concerts for small ensemble orchestral and voices.
The concerts take inspiration from the work of the main composer from Catania, Vincenzo Bellini, and then transport the spectator into the context of the opera production of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in which the composer from Catania found himself operating. From Mascagni to Verdi, from Rossini to Puccini passing through Donizetti, Bizet etc… in an unforgettable journey through opera.
The concerts will be hosted in the prestigious and monumental Church of the Badia di Sant'Agata, built next to the Cathedral where Maestro Bellini rests.
