What you can expect

We will embark on a journey in the footsteps of the ancient inhabitants of Cusco and in search of an ancient tradition that the residents of the South Valley have kept alive. This is the Qeswachaca bridge, the last original Inca suspension bridge. On the road trip from the city of Cusco to Combapata we will see the beautiful landscapes that make up the South Valley and we will follow the route of the Vilcanota, the sacred river of the Incas. Our hike will begin when we arrive at the peaceful town of Combapata.

From there we will walk uphill and pass through some Andean communities. Upon reaching the Qeswachaca suspension bridge we will witness an ancient Inca tradition that is kept alive thanks to the communities of Huinchiri, Chaupibanda, Choccayhua and Ccollana Quehue. The members of these communities meet year after year to cut the suspension bridge, they made the previous year, and braid a new one. It is located at 3,700 metres above sea level, measures 30 metres long and has more than six centuries of history. An unforgettable experience! Before heading back, we will enjoy a picnic with an unparalleled view.
