What you can expect
Both tourists and Bhutanese residents are growing more and more fond of the sport of mountain biking, which is perfectly suited to the country's rough, hilly terrain. There are many different bike routes to choose from, from easy rides on paved roads to strenuous off-road dirt paths winding through rugged terrain. A level of familiarity with the surroundings that is rarely found in cars is provided by the sport. Bike riding is becoming into a highly distinctive and original method of viewing and connecting with the nation, people, and the Bhutanese environment as newer, better roads replace the older ones and there are a greater number of off-road routes.
Most biking trips go through well paved roads while others trail on to dirt roads and trails. Traffic is still relatively very light and the experience very intimate. The more adventurous have the option of making side excursions for more “off-the-road” ventures if prefer. The trails accommodate most types of frames: including Hybrid, and Road, depending on your cycling style and experience. Biking trails mostly meander through small towns and villages and rural areas; it’s just you, your bike, the tour group and the agrarian and natural scenery.
