What you can expect

Start the day at the Slanic Salt Mine. This salt mine, located in a wonderful environment was opened for the first time in 1938. In order to reach it, you’ll go 400 metres down. The microclimate inside makes it a favourite spot for both locals and travellers — there’s a constant temperature inside of never more than 54 degrees Fahrenheit (12 degrees Celsius) which is much preferred in a hot summer.

Your next stop will be a unique and odd place: the mud volcanoes. These small volcanoes stand just a few metres above ground and they exist because of a unique combination of water and natural gases creating a moon-like terrain.

Next, visit Ciolanu Monastery, well-known for its late 19th-century icons painted by famous artist Gheorghe Tătărescu.
