Explore Salalah's East Side: A Cultural Adventure with Amazing Landscapes
Morning:
- Begin your day with pick up at your hotel in our vehicle. Meet the knowledgeable guide of Beautiful Salalah Tours, ready to immerse you in the local culture of Salalah's east side.
- Your first stop is Taqa, where you'll step back in time at the 19th-century Taqa Castle. Explore the historic architecture and charm of this coastal town. Also other historical sites are Koofan Heritage house, to see the 150 years old Dhofari house. A new attraction, Burj Al Askar is at the top of the cliff, overlooking the castle and coast. Entrance for Taqa Castle (OMR 3), Koofan House (OMR 1) and Burj Al Askar (OMR 1) is to be paid on the place where you want to enter. Entrance is optional.
- Enjoy a scenic drive through Taqa's bustling streets, giving you a glimpse of everyday life in this vibrant Omani town. See the fisherman on the coastal area and a lot of birds.
- Pause at a tranquil beach and relish the stunning panoramic views from the clifftop, taking in the breathtaking surroundings.
Mid-Morning:
- Travel to Wadi Darbat, a natural wonder that will leave you in awe. Witness cascading waterfalls nestled beneath the majestic Jabal Al Qara mountains. This is the most visited place in Southern Oman and a must when you are in Salalah.
- For those seeking adventure, opt for kayaking or boating on the adjacent canal (additional cost) as you embrace the serene and picturesque landscape, complete with wandering camels.
- Continue your journey and marvel at the remarkable Tawi Attair Sinkhole, aptly known as the “birds well,” with its intriguing geological formations.
Lunch Break:
- Savour a delicious lunch, taking in the unique flavours and aromas of Omani cuisine. Lunch price is not included and need to be paid separately.
Afternoon:
- Prepare to be amazed as you ascend to the 4,000-feet high Jabal Samhan, the tallest peak in Dhofar. Stand on the edge of the cliff at Jabal Samhan's viewpoint and watch as the clouds appear to touch the cliff edges below, creating a surreal and breathtaking vista.
- Delight in a relaxing interlude under the ancient baobab trees of Wadi Hinna, or embark on a gentle hike to discover the enchanting Ayn Hasheer seasonal waterfall.
- Experience the intriguing phenomenon of an anti-gravity hill, where the laws of physics seem to defy reality, leaving everyone amazed.
Evening:
- Conclude your cultural adventure with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sumharam, a place steeped in history and significance. Explore the archaeological wonders that make this site a treasure trove of ancient heritage. Entrance OMR 3, payable at the site.
As the day comes to an end, you'll leave with a heart full of memories and a deeper understanding of the rich culture and natural beauty of Salalah's east side. Drop off to your hotel.
