The tour stars with a pickup at your hotel or from the meeting point in Chachapoyas to drive to the Utcubamba River valley. Travel for an hour to the village of Cocachimba from where the hike heads towards the waterfall. As you admire the thick greenery of the rainforest, you will be able to stop and take in stunning views of the surrounding valley and gain a perspective on how large the waterfall truly is.
See local agricultural activities and encounter fauna species typical of the region such as Peru's national bird the Andean cock-of-the-rock, endemic trees, orchids, ferns, and bromeliads. Reach the base of the waterfalls and enjoy the pure beauty of Gocta up close for amazing once-in-a-lifetime pictures. The Gocta waterfall is 770 metres (2,530 feet) tall — the third highest in the world — and consists of two perennial drops that pour water into the Cocahuayco River.
After the visit to the falls, hike down the mountain and return to Cocachimba to relax and have lunch in a local restaurant. You will then be transferred back to Chachapoyas and arrive between 5 and 5:30 PM.
