What you can expect

Pay a visit to the equator and explore the wilderness of Pululahua Volcano with this tour of the unique wonders in the Middle of the World. A stately monument lets you reflect on the boundary between the hemispheres, and an expert guide leads you on a spectacular hike through the Ecuadorian Andes.

After a convenient pickup from your hotel, head north for a visit to Ciudad Mitad del Mundo, a plaza built to mark the location of the equator. Get a look at the Monument to the Equator and stop at the Intiñan Museum, where you can see a variety of tricks that are supposedly only possible on the equator. Watch water flow down a pair of drains in opposite directions just inches away from each other, or an egg balancing on top of a nail.

Next, head into the mountains for a visit to the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, South America's first national park. With more than 53 species of plants and 21 animal species to be found, your hike offers a vast natural spectacle among the brush-covered ridges on the way to the 3-mile-wide (5-km) caldera of Pululahua. Admire the view of the dormant volcano before you begin the return trip to Quito.
