The Bund

Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m.. Then, we will move to the Bund by public transport. The Bund is a famous waterfront on the west bank of Huangpu River and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai. Here, the charm of Shanghai as a bustling metropolis combining the century-old history and flourishing future is fully presented, making the Bund Shanghai a must-see attraction. We will see the 26 various buildings of different architectural styles at the Bund. Such as Peace Hotel(Heping Fandian), Shanghai Customs House and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. We also can appreciate skyscrapers across the Huangpu River.
The Bund City Sculptures (Pass by)
We will see the Bund City Sculptures, Monument to the People's Heroes, Huangpu Park and Waibaidu Bridge.
Heping Fandian

Heping Fandian, also known as the Peace Hotel. It has South Building and North Building. South Building It has a brick veneer structure, with the six storeys reaching 30 metres in height. The exterior is in a Renaissance style. The architects placed a strong accent on colour and finished the building in their locally interpreted Victorian Renaissance' design. North Building It is the former Sassoon House, built in 1929. The total height is 77 metres. It featured extensive use of straight lines in the exterior, with decorative patterns at pediments and eaves. Most of the building features granite facing, with the ninth floor and the roof surfaced with terracotta. The eastern façade, facing the Huangpu River and the Bund, features a pyramidal roof with steep sides and a height of about 10 metres. Then, We will move to People’s Square and visit Shanghai Museum to learn about profound history and culture of Shanghai.
People's Square (Renmin Guang Chang)

Shanghai People's Square is located at the very centre of Shanghai and is the demarcation point of East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road. It is a flourishing place for people to look around. Before 1949, the area of Shanghai People’s Square and the People’s Park was used as a famous horse racetrack which was built in 1861, honoured as the ‘No.1 Racetrack in Far East’. Visitors still can find the ruins for the former main building standing at the northeast part of the People’s Square. We will see many scenic spots around people's square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai History Museum and the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
Shanghai Grand Theater (Pass by)
We will admire the facade of Shanghai Grand Theatre. Shanghai Grand Theatre is uniquely designed and beautifully shaped. It combines western and Chinese architectural styles perfectly. The white arched vault sets off glass curtain walls like a crystal palace.
Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan)

Located in the centre of Shanghai in People's Square, Shanghai Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art. Its style and presentation surround visitors with artefacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy. The exterior design of the round dome and the square base symbolises the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land. The museum is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The eleven galleries cover most of the major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities.
Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road)

Nanjing Road is considered to be the 'No. 1 commercial street in China', which has been a landmark for this city for a long time. Along its 5.5 kilometres, you will find over 600 shops that on average are visited by some 1.7 million people each day. Here, you can purchase everything wanted, spanning from special and cheap souvenirs to the luxurious world famous brands. You can also visit the surrounding areas and the thinnest building. The thinnest in Ningbo Road is known as Paper Building(纸片楼). The building was once reported by British Daily Post, stated as perhaps the world's flattest and thinnest building. Standing diagonally in the front of the the building, it just looks like a piece of paper. The old house had four floors, not all that thin; it takes the shape of triangular polygon. This novel and strange building still has a large number of residents.
Former French Concession (Pass by)
Known for its tree-lined boulevards, the former French Concession is a stylish area boasting a charming mix of Chinese and European architecture. Walk along quiet alleyways, absorb the botanical beauty of a French-style park and admire the intricate facades of villas and apartments built in the early 20th century and discover the famous figures that have resided within.
Fuxing Park

Shikumen Museum, Shanghai

It is an old shikumen house built in the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. The museum was built according to the model of one household in the 1920s. There are seven main exhibition rooms, namely, the guest room, the study room, the old people's room, the master room, the daughter room, the pavilion room and the oven room. The storey of a shikumen family runs through the whole visit. It not only shows the unique shikumen architectural culture of Shanghai, but also reproduces the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.
