It's the Instafamous "Giant 3D cat" in Shinjuku. The 3D giant cat at the east entrance of Shinjuku Station became popular on Instagram and is now known as the "Cat of Shinjuku East Exit." The area around the east entrance of Shinjuku Station is a bustling shopping district where people gather, and the cat has become a friendly and familiar presence for both locals and tourists. Additionally, this 3D cat appears every 15 minutes, showcasing a short storey for visitors to enjoy.

According to legend, the temple’s cat raised its paw to gesture towards a passing samurai, which led to the samurai's good fortune and the temple’s prosperity. As a result, Gotokuji is home to many Maneki-neko statues, which are believed to bring good luck and fortune.
