Pick up in the morning at your accommodation, head on to the north side of the island (Serra Malagueta). The hike goes through the natural park to Mato Correia village and it will end up at the small village- Rabelados community. It is a perfect combination between hiking and historical/cultural tour. The natural park is a great place for hiking lovers, with different types endemic flora and fauna, at the end of the park the hikes continues to Mato Correia village- a small village in which the locals are very welcoming, the locals depend on agriculture and cattle breading, from Mato Correia you will reach the Rabelados Community-The Rabelados (from the Portuguese rebelados, “rebels”) are a religious community primarily found in the interior of the island of Santiago of Cape Verde. They were among the groups which revolted against the liturgical reforms of the Catholic Church introduced in the 1940s, isolating themselves from the rest of society. They came to practice their earlier traditions in secrecy.The houses are built of coconut tree trunks, ropes made of sisal fibres and intertwined coconut leaves.
