What you can expect

This walking tour skirts around some beautiful parklands and squares of North Adelaide which include a great mix of heritage dwellings, both private homes as well as churches, monuments and other historic sites. The tour discovers some of the stately homes which overlook the city and who lived in them, how they made their fortunes etc. There is also some good examples of smaller workers cottages together with a visit to the home of every Anglican bishop since the 1850's. Some of the former residents had occupations such as pastoralists, miners, politicians and entrepreneurs as well as artists, engineers and list goes on.

Hear about one of our early explorers who opened up settlement and pastoral land all the way from Adelaide to Darwin and over to the Indian Ocean. View some striking architecture with use of local stone. Also find out more about the man who laid out the city of Adelaide and environs in 1837 as well as the spot where the first public hanging took place.
