Activity itinerary

Isla Arena
  • 2h
Isla Arena is located in the municipality of Calkiní. It is a space where you can be in contact with the exuberant nature of the Celestún Biosphere Reserve of which it is an important part. It is in its estuaries where you can see the colonies of beautiful pink flamingos that have made this region so famous, as well as a huge diversity of seabirds such as cormorants, frigates and pelicans.
Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
The Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve in which petenes have developed, which extends through Yucatán and Campeche, has about 600 km² and is internationally recognised for being the winter refuge for thousands of flamingos and many other species of birds. The Celestún ecosystem is unique due to the combination of fresh water from the Ría Celestún and salt water from the Gulf of Mexico. Celestún flamingos are of an intense pink colour, due to the concentration of carotene in the water; Furthermore, the reserve is home to several species of birds, among which are the white pelican and the brown pelican.
El Remate
  • 2h
El Remate is located just 47 km from Calkiní in the state of Campeche, it is an ecotourism place to visit with the whole family if you are looking for a day of relaxation and fun in contact with nature. In this place you will be able to enjoy a spring connected to the sea by an eight kilometre artificial canal made many years ago to facilitate trade in this area with other places. The depth of this spring varies between 1.5 and 4 metres, which makes it ideal for the whole family. In its surroundings you will see a large number of palm trees and leafy trees, characteristic of the region known as the petenes.
Real de Salinas
  • 1h
Real de Salinas is a ghost town of which only its ruins can be seen, because according to the inhabitants, the place was uninhabited by its inhabitants due to a curse. Real de Salinas is located 10 kilometres from Celestún Yucatán, near the mangroves, where you can see the vestiges of a civilisation that was prosperous at the time, however, its inhabitants were dying little by little and those who remained preferred to abandon their homes. Upon reaching this ghost town you can see a chapel in ruins and without a roof; crossing the esplanade you can see the worn houses and at the entrance a text written on the wall, which gives traces of the curse that “self-launched in the place.
