What you can expect
Learn about the different faces of the occupation of Krakow and its inhabitants during World War II on a guided walking tour, including a visit to the famous Oskar Schindler Factory Museum, and to the nearby former concentration camp in Płaszów.
Meet your expert guide at Oskar Schindler's Factory. Learn about the presence of the famous German industrialist Oskar Schindler, who saved 1,200 Jews and Holocaust victims during World War II by transferring prisoners to his factories in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Next, make your way to the Podgórze district, where the Jewish Ghetto was once located. You will see a part of the undestroyed wall around the ghetto, the pharmacy Under the Eagle, whose owner helped thousands of Jews, and a monument with 68 chairs in the Jewish Heroes' Square.
Next, visit the sites of the former concentration camp in Płaszow, which is depicted in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List film, and which supplied several military factories and a quarry with labour workers. The area which held the camp now consists of sparsely wooded hills and fields, with one large memorial to all the victims, erected in 1964, and several smaller ones.
This tour is designed for the curious visitor who wants to do more than just scratch the surface.
