This tour introduces travellers to many different aspects of the culture and daily life of the Maasai, who are often seen as an outstanding example of cultural preservation in Tanzania. Guests will learn about their history, food, habits, daily tasks and any other aspects of their lives that may be of interest.
On arrival, guests are welcomed to the boma with songs sung by the Maasai women. You may also be adorned with typical items of Maasai clothing like a shuka and jewellery. You then begin a tour of the compound to learn about some of the typical daily activities of the people. These may include how to make fire, milk cows, fetch water or check on the progress of bee hives.
The Maasai men will also perform “adumu”, the well known jumping dance, which is performed as a display of the young men’s strength. You are welcome to participate.
The tour ends with lunch at the boma before returning to town to be dropped off at your accommodation.
