Locations visited:
Hopetoun House - This is one of Britains most stately homes and grounds so is easily tranformed into Lord Sandringhams home for many internal and external scenes including his pistol duel with a member of the Campbells. The cobbled courtyards behind the Stables Tearoom were also transformed into the historic streets of Paris for much of the filming for season 2.

Midhope Castle - You’ll probably recognise this 15th century castle for serving the external shots of the family home of Jamie Fraser. It really is a beautifully historic building, and the view from the bottom of the driveway leading up to the house is truly picture perfect – so have your cameras at the ready!

Blackness Castle - Jutting out into the Firth of Forth, this “ship that never sailed”, is a 15th-century fortress used as Black Jack Randall's headquarters at Fort William notoriously known for the flogging of Jamie Fraser. It was also the castle that Jamie broke into in the mid-season finale to save Claire from the clutches of Black Jack.

Linlithgow Palace - famous for being the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scotts, this shell of a palace was used as Wentworth Prison in Outlander as well as in numerous scenes in the new Netflix film Outlaw King about our KIng Robert the Bruce.

Doune Castle - one of, if not the most famous film locations in Scotland, used for nearly all of the castle scenes in Monty Python's “Holy Grail” and Elizabeth Taylor's “Ivanhoe” it is now better known as the original setting for Winterfell Castle in the Game of Thrones and Castle Leoch, the clan home of the Mackenzie's in Outlander.

Culross - better recognised as the setting for the fictional town of Cranesmuir in Outlander. The series took full advantage of the breathtaking and protected backdrop for the production of many of its episodes.

Falkland Village and Palace - most notably, the towns high street and fountain wich fills in for 1940’s Inverness and it was inside of the palaces apothecary, where Claire meets Mary Hawk whilst purchasing medical supplies to attend to the sick Alex Randall. Just make sure you don’t bump into the ghost of Jamie!
