What you can expect

The eruption in AD 79 spelled a fiery end for Pompeii, but the catastrophe also almost perfectly preserved the port city under layers of Volcanic ash. Thousands of years later, you can still explore the eerie streets and step inside homes, bathhouses, fast food places and outdoor theatres. Your personal archaeologist will lead you along the ancient streets and delve into the unique history of Pompeii.

Our day trip doesn’t end here, a short coach ride Savour a delightful lunch at a spectacular restaurant, offering panoramic views of Naples' bay, the Amalfi Coast, and nearby islands. Indulge in a traditional pizza, perfectly complementing the regional flavours. Your lunch experience includes an starter and a dessert, ensuring you're fuelled for the adventures ahead.

Continue your journey with an ascent to Mt. Vesuvius (from April to early-November), an active volcano boasting breathtaking views of Capri and Sorrento. At Vesuvius, you can choose between an invigorating hike to the renowned crater or opt for a more leisurely naturalistic walk alongside a professional geologist, revealing the hidden wonders of the Vesuvius landscape.

You can also decide to upgrade and discover the Amalfi Coast instead of Mount Vesuvius. Be amazed by the beauty of the Amalfi Coast as you leisurely drive down to, arguably, the most beautiful seaside village in Italy, Positano. Here you can enjoy free time for an afternoon walk through the local shops, or simply sit back and soak in the views while sipping a limoncello or enjoying a gelato!

Didn’t find out until we arrived in Pompeii that Vesuvius tour was cancelled. There was no plan B. No pivot. Very disappointing.

Enjoyed our tour guide, Angela! She was full of great information, had a great personality and kept us entertained. And can’t forget our bus driver, Julio, the gladiator of all drivers, a tall, handsome Italian man that maneuvered that big bus through the winding roads of Pompeii with great skill!

Nice trip all in all. Kind and professional crew. Patricia was so sweet , fun, and gave us the right dose of information and stories. Expect a long day (home by 9:30 am). I would have preferred to have spent more time in Pompei if possible. Not everything the guide said there was fully understood but he was very knowledgeable and tried to show us as much as he can with the time available. Excellent driving to Vesuvius and back. Nice and generous lunch. Fun trip. Very recommended.

We had an amazing time and Patricia was very sweet. We got lunch very promptly and it was delicious. Vesuvius was incredible and the driver, Andrea, was a brilliant driver We had a few areas that were difficul. First was the sheer number of people this company stuffs on to tours creates a lack of clear guidance on who we were going with at different points where local guides came on or when we split off from the hundreds of people in the square for all the different trips this group was leading. Finally, the ad on Expedia is very weird and misleading. It says you get drinks with lunch. You get water, which would normally be charged so it is actually something that is covered, however if you were expecting wine for example, that is not included. It also says you go up Vesuvius with a geologist. You do not. You go up by yourself and the tour director doesn't go in the park at all

Due to circumstances that will probably out of the control of the excursion provider, the tour was canceled 12 hours before it was to start. I was offered an alternate tour, but after traveling from Canada, I was unable to see Pompeii.

The Pompeii trip with Mt. Vesuvius was an all-day affair of 12 hours or so. It was well worth every cent. You can't do one without the other in my opinion. City Wonders was the tour operators, and they did a fabulous job. I recommend them highly.

The tour itself was good, but the meeting and coordination was terrible. Right place, right time, plenty of blue shirts, but so many tours that nothing could be heard and the place was bedlam. We were told to go and wait to be called, but as time passed, we had to approach two other attendees before we finally were able to find our group, nearly missing it completely. We went to confirm this with the man who appeared to be leading the blue shirts but he seemed more concerned with his looks than our question and very rudely told us that everyone else had heard. The system was unruly and manic, with small voices competing over a massive area. A simple megaphone, or chalk boards showing which tour was which would have resolved this, but the lead representatives arrogance simply compounded the issue, and many we spoke with were saying the same, especially about the confusion. The ticket said food & drink. Food was good, the drink was a glass of water. Worth doing but be prepared.
