Starting from Sofia we'll drive for approx. 2 hours to the boarder with North Macedonia. The road goes via cherry and apple gardens until we reach the elevation of 1300 m. where the crossing point between the two countries is. After getting across we'll take another 2 hours driving through various villages with their own realistic charm.
Once we arrive in Skopje we'll meet our friendly North Macedonian colleague who will take us on a 2-hour walk in Skopje city centre introducing to us not only the history of this ancient area but also giving us those details about the daily lifestyle and the locals' perception and understanding on life which are the core of the every traveler's interest.
During this walk we'll see the Old Bazaar - Stara Charshiya - still quite authentic and very lively, remanding us of those days when the Ottoman Empire was the power on the Balkans contributing greatly for the commercial development of the area.
We are going to visit Mother Theresa Memorial house and actually see where her father's house was built, we will enter one of the most important mosques and visit a significant by its importance Christian Orthodox church dating from 12th century!
While strolling along those old streets we can try some of the sweet temptations and gaze at the windows of the goldsmiths on their part of the Old Bazaar.
Afterwards we can have some time to ourselves further exploring or spending some time for lunch.
Having spend approx. 4 1/2 hours may be it will be time to start driving back to Sofia in a relaxed way content with our daily experience and full of newly made memories!
