What you can expect

Leaving London, drive to Bath to visit the Roman Baths and Pump Room. In the late afternoon visit Lacock for an early dinner in a 14th-century inn before reaching Stonehenge. As the sun begins to set, enter the stone circle—normally roped off to the public—for a unique private viewing.

On select days the tour operates in reverse, visiting Stonehenge before it opens to the public, followed by stops in Lacock and Bath. At Stonehenge, built nearly 5,000 years ago, get a private viewing of the mysterious monoliths. Enter the stone circle and stand beside the towering Sarsen rocks. Your guide explains the history of this site, pointing out the altar, slaughter, and heel stones, where the sun rises dramatically on the summer solstice.

Visit Lacock, a village dating back to the Saxon era, with many beautiful buildings owned by The National Trust. This picturesque hamlet has been the setting for many films including Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

In Bath, famous for its Georgian architecture, join an optional walking tour to the charming 17th-century Sally Lunn tea room and the Jane Austen Museum. See Bath Abbey and the Pulteney Bridge, modelled on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge in Florence. Get plenty of time to visit Bath Abbey and enter the magnificent Roman Baths, where more than 1 million litres of hot water burst from the springs daily. (Entrance to Roman Baths included if option selected)
