The Punta Tombo Reserve is a Natural Area that protects Magellan penguin colonies. The area is the place chosen by penguins to make their nests and have their chicks. Penguins can be observed when they come to the coast to breed. In those months the Punta Tombo colony can host up to 400,000 penguins. During the winter months (from April to September) the penguins remain offshore. The penguins return to the same place every year to make their nests. The penguin colony has a visitor centre where the rangers give talks and explanations. From here begins a path of 3,500 metres along the beach that runs through the habitat of the penguins, the nests dug in the ground stand out and the specimens that with a firm and graceful march come and go from the sea seeking their food.
