Overview

“Explore the magnificent atmosphere of the Danube Bend – let the fabulous, old town, Vac, fascinate you!” Tour guiding is not only my really profession, but my passion too. I am open-minded, friendly and get on well with people very easily. Meeting new people from different parts of the world is the most fantastic thing that I can imagine. I would be happy to show the travellers my wonderful home town where I know every hidden corners, storey of the beautiful baroque buildings and legends.

During the restoration work of the Dominican Church in 1994 an invaluable treasure of the cultural history was discovered. The workers have found the crypt of the church. More than 150 years ago the wealthier inhabitants and the members of the church were buried here. In the crypt 262 coffins were placed in the 17th and 18th centuries. The coffins hided spontaneously mummified bodies of the citizens of Vác. Due to the special favourable conditions the corpses have been mummified in natural way. The church stood here for about five hundred years, there was a church in Saint Michael, and the area was built in relation to it. It was transformed several times, the layout that we can see now shows its longest-lived form as revealed by the archaeological excavations.
