Activity itinerary
Chiesa del Soccorso (Pass by)
A place of worship and legend, the Church of Soccorso in Forio d'Ischia is not only beautiful but has a particular meaning for all the inhabitants of the island.
It stands on a small promontory overlooking the sea and is dedicated to the cult of the Madonna della Neve; it is white, stands out from afar and represents the classic Mediterranean construction. The Soccorso promontory in Forio also houses the Torrione, another symbol of the people of Forio.
Spiaggia di Citara (Pass by)
ìThere are many legends that make the bay of Citara a fascinating place, and it is even more so to leave it to the legends themselves, told by the old Forian farmers, of the myths handed down from generation to generation, from distant times. The name of the town itself seems to derive from Venus Citarea and the miracle that created the bay of Citara and its spa, from the tears shed by the goddess for losing her beloved Adonis. Another version says that instead it was Tifeo with his tears that created the flooding of the bay, this time tears of joy for having received Jupiter's forgiveness. In addition to the marine conformation of the bay, it is said that the Stone of the Ship is nothing more than a rock, but according to legends, it seems to be the galley in which Ulysses travelled, having received it from Alcinous, king of the Phaeacians, to return to Ithaca.
Baia di Sorgeto
- 30m
The volcanic nature makes Ischia an island full of thermal springs that flow in every corner, even directly into the sea. The bay of Sorgeto is a real open-air thermal park, free and therefore open all year round.
For this reason in Sorgeto you will find people immersed in water even in the coldest months, even in winter because the temperature inside the tanks can reach up to 37 degrees. The Bay of Sorgeto is one of those places where you can take a thermal bath directly in the sea: here hot and cold water mix with sweet and salty water, giving tourists unique sensations. We will stop in this magnificent bay to take a dip in these thermal marine waters (the bay is not very large, the stop will therefore be possible if there are not too many boats).
Sant'Angelo
- 30m
Sant'Angelo d'Ischia is one of the most fascinating villages on the island of Ischia. An oasis of peace and tranquility, it is forbidden to cars and, among characteristic alleys and houses leaning against each other, it reflects the typical example of Mediterranean architecture.
An ancient fishing village, it is today an elegant meeting place for elite tourism who arrive at the tourist port with shiny yachts.
Located at the foot of the municipality of Serrara Fontana, it represents the jewel of the island of Ischia. And it is precisely here that we will stop so that you can immerse yourself in the waters of this enchanted village!
Maronti Beach (Pass by)
The "Spiaggia dei Maronti" is one of the most famous and popular beaches on the island of Ischia. Surrounded by an uncontaminated natural landscape and offering spectacular views of the coast and the crystal clear sea. Fumaroles are one of the most famous volcanic phenomena that can be admired on the island of Ischia. They are located at the beginning of the Maronti beach, in the Sant'Angelo area, and are caused by the underlying geothermal activity of the town. In this area, the thermal water reaches the highest temperatures on the island, close to 100°C.
Cavascura, the oldest thermal basin on Ischia, is an extremely evocative place that testifies to the history of the ancient civilisations that spent their time on the island. Even today Cavascura retains its original appearance and offers tourists one of the oldest and most evocative spa centers in Europe, where it is possible to relax with massages, mud baths or thermal showers.
La Scarrupata (Pass by)
The Scarrupata includes the coastal strip that goes from Punta San Pancrazio to and beyond Capo Grosso. It is characterised by a very high coast and a pebbly beach strip. La Scarrupata is a place of extraordinary beauty overlooking the sea and offers tourists an unforgettable panorama. You can also see the various volcanic layers of what was one of the largest volcanoes on the island and which today has largely been eroded by the sea. It can be reached by sea or via a path.
San Pancrazio (Pass by)
Located in the south of the island, this bay is a true natural treasure that offers its visitors breathtaking views.
The Bay of San Pancrazio is a pebble bay, characterised by crystal clear waters that invite long swims and relaxing sunbaths. But it's not just the sea that makes this bay such a special place. The bay is surrounded by lush vegetation, which makes the landscape even more enchanting. The trees and the rich Mediterranean vegetation create an atmosphere of quiet and peace, perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty of uncontaminated nature.
La Spiaggia e la Baia di Cartaromana (Pass by)
It is one of the most panoramic places on the island, in fact in front of you you can admire the Aragonese Castle, a little further on Michelangelo's Tower and, again, the rocks of Sant'Anna rich in history and suggestion due to the legend that it is linked to women giving birth who, by rubbing them, it is said, became fertile.
Here too, as in Sorgeto and Cavagrado, it is possible to experience first-hand one of the examples of natural thermalism present on the island. Don't be surprised if at times you find the water warmer as you are right above a thermal spring, on a fumarole. submarine that produces harmless volcanic gases studied in Ischia by biologists from all over the world.
Castello Aragonese
- 1h
The Aragonese Castle is a fortification that stands on a tidal island of trachytic rock located on the eastern side of the island of Ischia, connected by a 220 m long masonry bridge to the ancient village of Celsa, known as Ischia Ponte. The islet on which the castle was built derives from a synaptic eruption that occurred over 300,000 years ago. Absolute symbol of this side of the island, for its majesty and historicity.
And it is right here (if the weather and sea conditions are favourable) that we will stop not only to give you the opportunity to take a swim in His Majesty's waters, but also to enjoy a rich typical Ischia aperitif accompanied by local wine!
Spiaggia Dei Pescatori (Pass by)
The Fishermen's beach, called by most people the Mandra beach, is located close to Ischia Porto, about 200 metres from the entrance to the ancient village of Ischia Ponte, along a stretch of coast once for the exclusive use of fishermen only (from which the name). It is a picturesque beach of soft golden sand immersed in a unique and evocative landscape context, with the Aragonese Castle on the right, the colourful houses of the Mandra village behind it and in front, offshore, the blue islands of Vivara and Procida. Nearby there is also an old stone mill and an ancient patrician residence. On the beach you can often find numerous wooden fishermen's boats pulled ashore on the sand which, together with the scent of fresh fish coming out of the typical restaurants overlooking the sea, make the atmosphere authentic and pleasant.
Spiaggia degli Inglesi (Pass by)
We head to the Casamicciola-Ischia port area, to reach the beautiful bay of the "Beach of the English". The English beach is a small volcanic beach of pebbles and dark sand. Located on the north coast of the island, it is sheltered by the cliff. This isolated beach received its current name during World War II, when the British used it as a landing point during an attack. The search for this hidden gem, not easy to find, adds a pinch of adventure to a beautiful walk. You will need to find the cobblestone path near the pier at the far end of Ischia Porto, marked by a vibrant bougainvillea that will guide you along the path.
Casamicciola Terme (Pass by)
The municipality of Casamicciola Terme is located on the northern side of the island of Ischia. From a historical point of view it represents the municipality of the island with the oldest tourist vocation. Originally, in addition to the pleasantness of the places, the tourist attraction came from the presence of many sources of thermal water. In fact, in Casamicciola Terme probably already during the Bronze Age they used to dedicate themselves to regenerating thermal baths.
This municipality on the island of Ischia has the highest number of thermal springs, and was already inhabited in the 6th century BC. as demonstrated by the finds found in the Cretaio area, the upper part of Casamicciola Terme.
In fact, many go to the island municipality to benefit from its thermal waters, recognised for centuries throughout the world for their healing properties.
Fungo Di Lacco Ameno (Pass by)
The famous and characteristic Ischia Mushroom is the symbol of the municipality of Lacco Ameno. It is a tuff boulder which, having detached itself from Mount Epomeo, rolled into the sea, took on its characteristic mushroom shape due to marine erosion, sculpted by the water and modelled by the wind into this very particular shape.
Il Fungo is located in the middle of the sea, on the edge of a cliff, and can be admired in the body of water in front of Corso Angelo Rizzoli, right in the centre of Lacco Ameno. To many it might seem trivially a stumbling block. But if you consider that that block of tuff fell down from Epomeo, was positioned a few metres from the coast, was shaped by mother nature, everything makes what to many may seem like a banal rock, a symbol of power incredible nature as well as Lacco Ameno.
Spiaggia di Varulo
- 30m
Nature offers glimpses that have no equal and which remain uncontaminated and within the reach of few. In the municipality of Lacco Ameno there is a small bay that can only be reached by sea.
It is the Monache beach, also called Varulo, an inlet of golden sand surrounded by nature.
The flight of seagulls, the chirping of cicadas and a crystalline and uncontaminated sea, the kingdom of the nuns, the molluscs that gave their name to this small magnificent bay.
We will stop in this splendid bay again to benefit from the freshness of its waters and to feel reborn!
Belvedere Di Zaro (Pass by)
Anyone who has fallen in love in Ischia has exchanged at least one kiss on the Zaro viewpoint. Incredibly romantic place, it offers one of the most evocative views I could ever see. From there the sky dominates the entire coast of the municipality of Forio which blends incredibly with the green of Mount Epomeo showing in totality the two main elements of the island: the land and the sea.
Spiaggia di San Francesco (Pass by)
The San Francesco beach is located in the municipality of Forio d'Ischia, a few kilometres from the port, in a picturesque position under the lava ridge of Punta Caruso. It is a beautiful beach of soft golden sand, characterised by a coastline hundreds of metres long bordered by numerous establishments and tourist facilities.
