What you can expect

Do you dare to scale 400 steps down towering cliffs, cross a suspension bridge over the tempestuous waters of the Irish sea onto an island with a 200 year old Lighthouse? Then this adventurous tour may just be the right fit for you.

Let's explore this special islet, where we may be greeted by resident guides who will only be too pleased to offer additional information. Ascend a spiral staircase to a lighthouse's lantern room, learn of those who once cared for the light and the tragedies that occurred. At 400 steps up, we'll marvel at the geology of this UNESCO Geo Park which has some of the finest rock folds in the world. Also, depending on the season, we may experience the RSPB bird colonies which include cormorants, gannets & puffins.

We'll have the opportunity for refreshments before we undertake a 3 mile hike through the rocky outcrops and heather, including visiting an ancient prehistoric settlement & 19th Century Quarry before returning to the Marina, via a coastal walk where we might see some seals!

Meet in at at agreed location in the Holyhead area, we'll check you have all the necessary footwear/clothing (waterproof) and then travel via a hired vehicle suited to seat each of us, travelling approximately 3 miles (5Km) to South Stack.

*Magnificent Panorama with views over Anglesey to Eryri/Snowdonia and visit the RSPB facilities at Ellen's Tower with views of the lightouse and cliffs. On clear days, Ireland, Isle of Man and England.

*You can descend 400 steps to the Island and Visit the Lighthouse (April - October only with resident guides).

*Return up the 400 Steps (Slowly) and marvel at the Cliffs Rock Formation and RSPB perhaps Bird Colonies too.

*Lunch/Refreshment break before hiking across the lower slopes of Holyhead Mountain viewing a prehistoric settlement before heading back to Port via the old quarrymen's coastal path.

In the event of weather preventing the tour from proceeding, either a refund or an alternative Internary may be provided.
