Negombo Beach

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Sigiriya rock famous as Lion Rock. Also this is a world heritage site. This site was selected by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. These pictures have a close resemblance to paintings seen in the Ajanta caves in India. The mirror wall has verses dating from as early as the 8th century. People of all types wrote on the wall, on varying subjects such as love, irony, and experiences of all sorts

We have an interesting excursion available in Habarana, in the form of a traditional bullock cart ride. The real traditional Sri Lankan rural village style, where you will travel in a Bullock cart to a rural village through lush green paddy fields where you will be served tea and " jaggery" along with lunch made in authentic Sri Lankan style. Traditional cooking methods, and a visit to a paddy field to see how the local farmers protect their crops from the wild animals, will be demonstrated.

Minneriya National Park

Minneriya National Park is a national park in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of the Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in the third century AD.
Pidurangala Rock

Pidurangala is a massive rock formation located a few kilometres north of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. It has an interesting history closely related to that of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Being less grand and far more difficult to climb it is often overlooked by tourists. Like Sigiriya, Pidurangala was formed by volcanic activity. Whilst Pidurangala appears larger than Sigiriya; its upper surface is steeply sloped and is of solid rock. For this reason, it was not suitable for large-scale building activity. The rocky outcrops that surround the central rock give one an indication of what the area around Sigiriya may have looked like before its clearing and preparation as a royal citadel.

It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Royal Botanical Gardens

Galle Fort
