With its glassy opera house and innovative theater auditorium, this multi-faceted venue for performances rises from the center of Dallas as an architectural gem.

The AT&T Performing Arts Center is a historic and prestigious complex whose stages are regularly graced by Broadway shows and famous comedians. The multi-venue site comprises an opera house, a theater and an outdoor performance area. Bring your kids to the family shows and let the dance recitals bring smiles to their faces.

Attend a cultural show in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, which stands out for its futuristic take on the traditional opera venue. With a cylindrical form, the building has a glassy exterior that lights up at night. Relax in the elegant auditorium, with its floating lights and bristly Moody Chandelier.

The complex’s Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre also makes an impression with its appearance. Admire the intriguing design of this sturdy gray block that seats about 600 spectators. The lines in the façade are reminiscent of stage curtains. The theater has a diverse lineup, including Broadway plays, important speakers and a range of musical acts.

Make the most of the hot weather in Dallas, with a viewing in Annette Strauss Square. This open-air facility holds a range of events, such as festivals and dance concerts.

Connecting the various arenas of the center is the Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park. Bring supplies for a picnic on the grass beside the reflecting pool before your show.

Free guided tours of the arenas are available Monday through Friday from morning to afternoon. Book your tour at least a week in advance.

Find the AT&T Performing Arts Center between Bryan Place and the Downtown Dallas district. Ride the tram to the Pearl/Arts District Station on the northeastern corner of the Cancer Survivors Plaza and walk north for a few minutes to reach the complex.

While you’re in the area, visit other surrounding attractions such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Klyde Warren Park and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
