"My family and I had a very comfortable 3-night stay at Happy Lands and visited Addo Elephant Park each day. On arrival, we were welcomed by the lovely host family to a very peaceful setting. The cottage patio looks onto beautiful gardens with mature trees. My husband wasn’t able to join us on this holiday, and we’ve already decided that we’d love to visit again to show him the farm. "
"Set inside Addo, you get 5 star service, and knowledgeable game guides who zero in on your individual needs. Lots of elephants, kudu, zebra, and a mating pair of lions made for outstanding sightings."
"We felt the on site restaurant could have offered more selection especially on starters one of which stayed the same for 3 nights and the other was a soup which did change but it wasn't exactly exciting. There are not many other restaurant choices in the area. "
"Rooms nicely air conditioned and clean . Pool and grounds well kept.
Found pool area lounges needing upgrade..very uncomfortable.
Meals very mediocre... and dinner overpriced for what was served.
Cleaning staff exceptionally friendly.
Owners - we've had better!
Some soft background music could be nice in lapa...to create some much needed ambience"
"Unbelievable spot of paradise just 10 minutes drive from Addo game park.
This place is tranquil, beautiful and relaxing.
From bird watching on the verandah, the spa, Freddie the pianist, Eduan and the rest of the team. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was divine."
"The actual hotel is really very good and the rooms are outstanding. Nice grounds, nice pool and the food was also of a decent quality.
Now on a road trip around South Africa, you get used to warnings about safety and taking care of belongings. Here we were welcomed with a lengthy delivery on all the steps the hotel was taking and what in turn we needed to do, which even by SA standards appeared a bit alarming, so made you think the surrounding area must be a huge 'worry'. Then we were presented...
"It is a beautiful property, near the main roadso easy to find. The staff are all lovely, friendly etc. The main problem was a mix up with my partners breakfast, the order was not correct when he cleary stated what he wanted. Nothing major but annoying and shouldn't happen "
"We had a lovely stay at Rosedale, which is a running citrus farm.
Keith was very welcoming and gave us lots of suggestions on what to do around.
Delicious breakfast with eggs from the farm, fresh juice and homemade bread.
Very close to Addo Elephant National Park"
"Quiet with magical setting, Lisa meets you on arrival with an enthusiastic smile filled greeting.
The room was very cozy, clean and roomy.
The kitchenette was the best stocked with necessary items for self catering that we have had in one month of South African touring"
"Die Lage des Cottage ist perfekt. Vom Bett aus konnten wir Elefanten und Kudu-Antilopen im Addo Park sehen. Aber auch direkt hinter dem Zaun des Grundstücks waren Warzenschweine und Antilopen unterwegs. Es war sauber, und alles da, was man benötigt. Die Feuerstelle lädt zum gemütlichen Zusammensitzen bei einem leckeren Wein ein. "

"The highlight of our holiday to South Africa!
A beautiful lodge with comfortable air con and tranquility (and yes a few necessary spiders) but providing the most incredible authentic experience of the wildlife, animals, birds, flora and fauna of this game reserve. Food and wine were excellent and plentiful, the service was superb, including gin and tonics during our afternoon game drive!
We had an excellent guide, Greg, with such a knowledge and passion for his work as a guide, and he led us to observe over 60 species over the course of 2 days and 4 game drives, starting with a wake up call at 5.30am for the pre-dawn game drive til 9.30am, then a second at 4pm lasting til nearly 8pm. He drove us through a fantastic storm, thunder and lightning and an impressive downpour which had us soaked but we saw so much! Listening to him explaining the habits of turtles, giraffes, buffalo and rhinos was an education, and will stay with us for life. The memories of elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, lions, ostriches fighting a jackal, a spotted eagle owl capturing a frog at night, secretary birds stalking their prey, a brown hyena and a family of bat-eared foxes… and the white rhinos and hippo, it was all simply wonderful!
Many many thanks for the best experience ever. We hope very much to return one day."

"From check-in to checkout our experience was first class. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. The property is very quiet and comes with a private dock on the river. We definitely recommend staying here. "
"Everything was fantastic, we stayed in Bayethe and the rooms were huge, well stocked and beautiful. The service from the Rangers, the housekeepers, The Lodge staff were all amazing too. All the meals in The Lodge were high quality and delicious. Lots of food, drink and amazing safari experience! "
Excellent game reserve lodge and great game drives
"Great stay. The manager was extremely attentive and explained everything, the staff were very attentive. Game drives were great, up rough roads, and we saw cheetahs and rhinos. Lovely views of animals grazing from our tent balcony. The food menus were a little tatty"
