"Great stay just outside Hokitika 5mins heading south.
Cooking area was a bit spartan with old school hobs which worked ok.
Food was nice great portions of blue cod and chips with salad .
Friendly staff great location "
"This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late.
Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and...
"We loved our stay in the Blackhouse Cottage, and wished we could have stayed longer. It was gorgeously appointed and well set out. The beds were super comfortable and we were snug and warm in the cold. So cozy and the perfect place to unwind and relax. We would stay here again and again. "
"Not as we imagined. Thinking a guesthouse as in the title thought would be welcoming…. Said breakfast included, it isn’t. You get 1 v small milk carton and teabags.
Prob great for a group but squashed dead insects on the door of the loo, dust behind the doors and just felt like staying at a grandmas house without the welcoming grandma….we sent a message to the owner on arrival as a lock safe entry and 2 days later no response. Up to you but not for us, disappointed "
"A great find. A little out of town, but well worth it. Ots really beautiful and so peaceful. The hosts were excellebt, very welcoming and friendly and they served up a great breakfast."
"The Hokitika Fire Station is a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable, spacious, clean, complete with all the amenities we needed and wanted. We'd happily stay there again and regret only staying for one night.
It is in a good location with parking just behind the building. The beach is a short walk away as is the main street with various dining, drinking and shopping options.
We think it is great that a historical building has been preserved in such a way with a strong tie to it's history and...

"Very affordable, good for family. They have heaters in the rooms but I wish they had fans in the summer months. Shower pressure was excellent! Bed was super comfotable. Quiet.. close to the beach."

"We were needed a place to stay coming from winery country to Fox Glacier and staying at Alpine Rose was a wonderful experience. We were greeted by Roger who is absolutely delightful. He was very friendly and gave us great suggestions for dinner.
The room was adorable with 2 very comfortable beds and mini kitchenette with everything you need to eat/cook with. The bathroom also came with everything you could possibly need including shampoo/soap and even make up remover. The bathroom was large and very accessible with grab bars if you need them. It would be great for a longer stay. We would book this spot in a heartbeat if we came back to Greymouth!"

"Comfortable bed, large room with everything you need. Shuttle bus to meet you at the station was a bonus. The motel is located in the road above the station. Close to the centre and supermarkets. The only downside was some loud guests who carried on until midnight without any regard for others."
