Unlike some museums where you're always at a distance from the artwork, the Art in Paradise Interactive Museum lets you completely immerse yourself in the paintings and enter into the works themselves, becoming one with the art. This museum really is unique as it incorporates 3D effects into the majority of its works making the artistic creations, and the entire complex, come to life. Thinking outside of the frame, Korean businessman, Shin Jae Yeoul, decided to bring this novel and distinctive attraction to Thailand in 2012 and it has become a firm favourite with tourists and locals alike.
The gallery is quite large, encompassing 10 zones, each with a different theme. Run from a stampeding herd of zebra that seem to jump right out of their frame towards you, dodge the giant whale swimming slowly into the museum hallway or visit the dinosaur zone and get chased by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. You can easily pass an entire afternoon moving from scene to scene.
There are also interactive wall and floor murals scattered throughout that allow for an amazing photo opportunity. Gaze through a hole in the wall that opens into the depths of a sea of colourful fish, balance atop a rickety bridge above torrential rapids or explore the booby-trapped pyramids and tombs of ancient Egypt. Strike a pose beside a rhino's bottom and then have your picture taken as an innocent angel floating in the sky.
The museum also pays homage to the classical masterpieces, but with a slight twist. Match yourself against history's great artists in the Classical Art room by painting the Mona Lisa's eyebrows or even those surreal melting clocks in Dali's famous Persistence of Memory! The Camouflage room is a little different from the rest and consists of psychedelic-style paintings designed to trick the eye and mess with your mind.
Art in Paradise Interactive Museum is open on a daily basis. However, weekends can be quite busy, so weekdays will give you a better chance of getting that perfect shot by your favourite mural. The gallery is located on Second Road near North Pattaya.
