"We had two stays at this hotel over two weeks and when we arrived for the first time at this hotel at around 9pm we were told our two rooms were "broken" and pushed to another hotel which was in a less than satisfactory area without shops and readily available taxis. It looks like we are not alone in experiencing being bumped to a less than satisfactory second option hotel. Also i always thought that the concierge/porter role was to help you, not hold you to ransom over getting a larger taxi...
