Rustic Mountain Cabin w/ Hot Tub, Outdoor Fireplace & Cozy Loft

Thank you for considering Bear Cabin Escape. This cabin will be perfect for you if:

• You enjoyed wildlife, nature, and the mountains
• You’re comfortable staying in a relatively remote area
• You enjoy amenities like fast Wi-Fi, outdoor fireplace, and multiple areas to relax

This may not be the best place for you if:

• You do not have 4WD for the winter months
• You need it to be “AC cold” in the summer months
• You would like to be walking distance to amenities

For the best possible experience, please read the full description as it contains many important notes to understand before booking. We want to make sure that our home is right for you!

We purchased this property for our family to use and would also like to be able to share the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina with others.

With the above being said, we understand that the mountains are a unique experience. Here are some things to consider prior to booking:

- 4WD/AWD is essential in the winter. We are open all year round and some of the most beautiful times to visit us is in the winter with a fresh snowfall. The roads as well as our driveway really do require four-wheel drive-in winter months. Most of the roads leading to the house are paved but the final stretch is gravel road that isn’t constantly maintained and plowed. During the winter months we do recommend travel insurance if you don't feel comfortable driving during inclement weather.

- The property is not equipped with AC. Due to the climate in the mountains we have found it is not necessary and most homes do not have AC. We have found that on the days that it does get warmer if the windows are open and guests use the fans that we have provided then the temperature does come down. If you need it to be AC cold in summer months, we may not be right for you.

- Our property is deep in the mountains. It is mainly paved roads to the property but the final stretch to get to the home is gravel roads that are narrower than most roads. If you are in the right vehicle, and you take your time the roads are very navigable, and you should have no issue. If you are not interested in navigating windy roads and you are looking for a completely paved road to your destination, we may not be the place for you.

- Please don’t hesitate to ask questions prior to booking. We want to make sure that our expectations for this visit are aligned and that you thoroughly enjoy your stay.

More details about our cabin:

If you want to just stay at the house this is the perfect place to relax. Seating in the backyard with a table to enjoy meals or just relax. Make full use of the outdoor fireplace if you want to stay warm during the winter or if you just want to roast marshmallows. Inside the home we have plenty of amenities for your use:

There is a large dining room table that comfortably seats 4 as well as 2 more seats at the breakfast bar. Use the wood burning stove to warm up the home and enjoy the fire while having dinner or your morning coffee.

All the dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, and other kitchenware is provided. We have a drip coffee pot (just bring filters and your favorite coffee) as well as blender.

The main living room is the perfect place for you and your loved ones to get together and relax. Lastly there is a small desk in the corner so that if you want to get some work done but still be around everyone else you can be.

The downstairs bed and bath area is equipped with a brand-new queen bed. The bedroom has a closet with hangers provided if you would like to hang up any of your clothes. Just across the hall is the full bathroom. We provide all the linens you would need as well as a hairdryer.

In the upstairs you have a separate seating area with its own couch an TV, which is also equipped with a Roku. This area can be used for getting away to relax by yourself and read or a place for the kids to be separate from the rest of the family if desired. Relaxing Getaway
We had a really lovely time hiking in the area and then coming back to the cabin to relax. Sitting in the hot tub surrounded by flowers, hummingbirds, and butterflies. It was a great getaway.

Please update the advertisement to say this property is located at the end of a very small road that is very over grown with briars and branches. I drove a full size truck and the sides were scratched immensely by the branches and briars. Parking was horribly…very narrow driveway straight up with nowhere to go at the top! Very little room to even get out and walk around the vehicle! Not at all well maintained on the outside or roads up to it! No air conditioning!! Overall the house/bedrooms okay. Hot tub needed to be cleaned and filled…very low on water any no hose anywhere to add water to it! Drawers in the kitchen were falling apart..no bottom in some of them. Property and land around really needs some attention!

Overall we had a great time! Beautiful area with lots to see and explore! The cabin was great, clean and quiet. The host was excellent and very responsive to the issue we had. The property has a neighbor who is really close but we only saw him once in the week we were there. Definitely 5 stars and speaking of the stars, the view from the hot tub was great!

Just what we imagined!!
We were pleasantly surprised by this little getaway. It was a lot more spacious than we originally thought and we were so comfortable there. We even got to see a little snow! That was the cherry on top for a great stay!! Also, little tip for newcomers, be sure to download the instructions and follow exactly what the owners tell you, the GPS is not far off, but having landmarks as reference definitely make you feel more at ease. You really will NOT have any signal going up there (which is kinda the point, if you ask me) but fear not, the wifi signal in the cabin is great. We definitely would enjoy going back!

Absolutely beautiful!
We loved our stay here! Completely remote and off the grid! Definitely will go back, however, the other reviews are correct in stating to start the hot tub as soon as you check in, we only booked Friday-Sunday and didn’t get to use the hot tub because it took until Sunday morning to get to 87 degrees, even though we started it the moment we checked in Friday afternoon while this was a huge disappointment the rest of the stay was definitely worth it. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need, they provide laundry as well, and plenty of wood to provide heat as the properties heating is only by baseboard heat, wood stove and a lovely electric fire place in the living room! Again we will definitely return in the future! Just wouldn’t recommend booking only for a weekend if you are intending on using the hot tub! Thank you to the host for providing us with a lovely mountain getaway!

Weekend Anniversary Getaway
Had a fabulous weekend in this rustic Cabin in the NC mountains. We went to Mt Mitchell State Park for a short hike and then the hot tub after to warm up. The cabin was clean, nice and cozy. Had everything we needed for a nice weekend together. And the view was also quite nice and relaxing. We recommend. Follow their printed directions that they give you when booking to get to the cabin. Because Google does try to lead you into a driveway.

Great Rustic Mountain Cabin
We had a great time. The cabin is as described, rustic. The host is very accommodating and answers questions quickly. We enjoyed the hot tub very much. Its location is out of this world and remote. There are other homes nearby though, but you are out there on the side of a mountain. It was peak fall and we enjoyed all the colors. It was peaceful! Checkout was a breeze and nothing out of the ordinary.

Never seen a bear before, in the woods. This one believes in walking the roads and not a forest path. It was awesome.

Was disappointed in the view of the mountains - there wasn't a view. The neighbor above us seemed very interested in keeping an eye on us - a little creepy. Still, we loved the cabin.

Secluded mountain getaway
The rustic cabin is a secluded getaway in the mountains with long walking trails all around so that you don't have to go far once you arrive. My wife and I hiked two of the longer trails and they are steep but were enjoyable. The hot tub was nice and keep and eye out because we saw a black bear two times, once was 10 feet behind the hot tub.

Cool cabin in the cool woods
We wanted a nice getaway from heat and humidity and we found it. The cabin is located in the mountains where it was 15-20 degrees cooler than our home area. We found some great hikes, saw some wildlife and had a nice relaxing time. Recommended!

Great stay!
My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway. The place was the most clean of any place that I have stayed before. We knew the place was remote so we got our groceries on the way in. If your not used to country roads it can be a little intimidating but we took it slow and had no issues. Nice area to hike. If you bring dogs be sure to check them when bringing them in, both my dogs each had a tick on them after one of our walks. Heat up the hot tub as soon as you get there if you plan on using it because it takes a while to heat up. We were worried about no air conditioning but the temperature in the house stayed perfect.

Would go back
I would absolutely stay again in the lovely hideaway! Some tips for the owner: I would have loved a few more kitchen supplies such as cleaners, and dish sponge to wash dishes. Other than a few little things we loved how private it was! You are definitely tucked way up in the mountain away from everything. So bring everything you could possibly needs, condiments and all. Waze navigation took us directly to it, so the extra instructions weren’t necessary for us to find it. Was nice and clean and cozy!
