"I stayed in February 2025. The Screen is a unique boutique hotel situated in a quieter part of Kyoto but still within walking distance to attractions like Gion. There are also some great restaurants and cafes nearby. From what I understand, the hotel offers 13 rooms, each designed by a different designer. I was in the orange room, which was super spacious with room for a king bed, a separate lounge/living area (complete with orange leather couch), full wall vanity and desk area, a full closet...

"Spent four days at Gagakuan, satisfied, although unexpected cold weather even in spring. Late sakura blooming, still managed to view some. Did not follow tour, rather venture on our own. Visited places of interest but unable to cover all due to insufficient time, maybe next time would to come again. "

"Our room at Aoi Hotel was very spacious, with a balcony the size of some budget hotel rooms and overlooking the Kamo River. The room gets daily cleaning and restocking, but the reception/concierge is not really present (they can be summoned with a phone call from the front desk). Overall, a unique, high-quality hotel in an excellent location."
