"A very pleasant stop over on way to Spain. Room booked for 4 adults which could have easily accomodated 6 people as there was 1 kingsize bed, 1 double pull our sofa bed ( very well dressed and comfortable), and single bunk beds. Also, in this particular hotel, dogs were not allowed into the bar area or even the reception area. This would have proved impossible if I had been travelling alone!! "It was our first time at the Grand Hotel. We stayed at the hotel on our way to catch the ferry from Caen to the UK. The location is very peaceful next to the Solesmes Abbey. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was of a high quality. Our superior room had a balcony and air con and was spacious. Our little border terrier, Lola, was made very welcome and we found a lovely walk next to the river behind the Abbey. We will definitely come back. "

"It was a historic setting in beautiful countryside though the old Chateau was very old and we were put in a musty room with no air circulation. The host was very inhospitable constantly arguing he didn't hear about Vrbo and demanded we pay him in cash even when I showed him Vrbo had withdrawn the money from my credit card account. We left after the first night with him chasing after us trying to force us to go to Daon instead of Chateau Gontier where we were to attend a wedding. "

"What a tremendous place, a beautiful building tastefully decorated, a lovely peaceful swimming pool, a picturesque stream outside. The owners could not have made us feel more welcome and were lovely. We celebrated my daughters 9th birthday there and it was like our princess was in a castle, they even gave her a card.
