Retro 1BR in Elizabeth w/ Porch & Eclectic Design

Summary:
Elegant architecture, trendy boutiques, and a genuine neighborhood atmosphere make Elizabeth the ideal Charlotte locale. Our spacious, super clean, dog friendly, 1 bedroom condo, has been restored and decorated with the comforts of home, including ultra-fast WiFi and Hulu Live TV. Enjoy a stroll to one of the many restaurants or grab a cocktail on the covered porch. Located on the Trolly Line with direct access to Plaza Midwood, downtown, and Novant Hospital. Short walk to Independence Park.

The Space:
Note: the oven is not listed as an amenity because it does not work, but this unit does have a toaster oven for light cooking.
The Home Collection provides all the comforts of home with unmatched design and hospitality. We own over 40 different residences all within two miles of downtown Charlotte!

Founded by a third generation Charlottean, our mission is to give you an authentic Charlotte experience and offer a range of accommodations in safe and historic neighborhoods while providing the most-deluxe furnished residences in Charlotte. Welcome home!

Check out all of our residences at our Host Profile. We offer discounts for long-term stays, so please ask. Well-behaved, quiet pets are allowed in most of our properties with a pet fee.

Our beautifully appointed condo in the charming Hawthorne building is in the desirable and walkable Elizabeth neighborhood. Kick back, relax, and enjoy our complimentary snacks and beverages.

This first-floor residence is full of artwork by local artist Nico Amortegui, well-known for large-scale paintings and installations throughout NC and the Smithsonian.

Upholstered furniture in the spacious living room provides comfortable seating for you to enjoy the flatscreen television with both streaming and Hulu Live. There is a pull-out sofa bed just in case you need an extra bed.

Ultra-fast Wi-Fi and a large desk allows business travelers to stay plugged into their busy schedules.

The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, utensils, etc. and the adjacent dining room comfortably seats four and includes all the place settings.

The main bedroom has a king-sized bed with a flatscreen television, and comfy chair. The bathroom is equipped with Nest bath products for your convenience.

Our residence is in historic Elizabeth, one of the nicest, most pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods in the city where generations of prominent Charlotteans have made their home. Immerse yourself in tree-lined streets, beautiful parks, and vibrant local scene await.

Hawthorne Avenue is the heart of Charlotte’s health care district. Plaza Midwood and Uptown are a short ride away on the streetcar.

This incredibly safe community provides an ideal place for walking or jogging, and you are just a half mile walking distance from more than 40 locally owned restaurants (Italian, Mexican, Cajun, and Mediterranean). For breakfast, try Central Coffee or Villani’s Bakery. Our favorite full-service spots include Customshop (local cuisine), Cajun Queen (Louisiana soul food) and Intermezzo (Italian).

If you are looking for local gems, check out The People Market, Menya Durama (Ramen), and Moo & Brew (burgers). My favorite BBQ joint is Midwood Smokehouse (but this is a touchy subject in the crossroads of BBQ).
Have a beer at Legion Brewery, a drink at the infamous Thirsty Beaver (Mick Jagger’s favorite spot), or a cocktail at the Crunkleton. Many of our neighborhood restaurants have patios that welcome dogs.

If shopping is on the schedule, you will find many locally owned shops on the ‘Plaza Piazza,’ including antiques, fine gifts, wines, and bespoke clothing for men and women. Elizabeth is also a neighborhood with a vibrant nightlife. If you’re looking for an exciting place to stay in Charlotte, you’ve come to the right place.
Uptown Charlotte is only one mile away and a short walk or ride to the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC Stadium, Hornets/Spectrum Arena, Knights Baseball Stadium, Discovery Place, Convention Center, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Mint Museum, Spirit Square, Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture, Discovery Place Science, and NASCAR Hall of Fame.

A workstation is available for rent during your stay for $10 per day. This includes a 32” monitor, wireless keyboard, and mouse.
We have a very strict non-smoking policy and there is a substantial penalty for guests that violate this policy.

Established in 1897, Elizabeth is the second oldest streetcar suburb in Charlotte. Given its close proximity to Upton, Elizabeth became one of the most fashionable residential areas in Charlotte in its early days.

Because much of the neighborhood was developed in the early 20th century, Elizabeth's trees have had time to mature. They now form a canopy over most of Elizabeth's residential streets. In addition, Elizabeth is more pedestrian-friendly than most Charlotte neighborhoods, businesses and residences are in close proximity, and most roads have sidewalks.

One of the many advantages of staying in Elizabeth is its unbeatable location. Situated just minutes away from Uptown Charlotte, you'll have easy access to the city's top attractions, cultural landmarks, and exciting entertainment options. Whether you're catching a game at Bank of America Stadium, immersing yourself in art at the Mint Museum, or exploring the vibrant nightlife of the city center, everything is within reach.

Retreat to your delightful accommodation, where comfort and style blend seamlessly. Unwind in the cozy living space, prepare a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen, or enjoy a glass of wine on the private patio. Designed with your comfort in mind, your stay offers a tranquil oasis to recharge after a day of exploration.

Experience the captivating allure of Elizabeth, where history meets modernity and where the city's energy intertwines with a sense of tranquility. Book your stay now and discover the unforgettable experiences that await you in this charming neighborhood in the heart of Charlotte.

We are return guests to this property and found the experience consistent with our expectations. The location is in a delightful clean and safe part of town. The apartment decor is fun with a pleasant B&B feel. The owners provide a special welcome basket and are very responsive to any questions. Also the property is convenient to so much of Charlotte. Golf courses and several parks in close proximity which added to our enjoyment during our visit.

very enjoyable stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawthorne Lane. Apartment was exactly as pictured. The location was convenient to many restaurants. Our main purpose for visiting Charlotte was to attend the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. There was a parking lot for the tournament only 5 minutes from Hawthorne Lane so it was very convenient. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Charlie was great to work with and made sure that everything was perfect!

Needs upgrading and updating
The good: Charlie and his staff were very nice. When there was an issue they tried to fix it. I like the food, snacks, booze and wine they left. It was decorated very nice. Most of all it is in a great location. The unit seemed very clean. The bad: The kitchen is old and needs updating, such as a new stove, (although it does work) , and kitchen needs new counter tops. There is a constant gas smell in the kitchen. but we were reassured that it was safe. The bathroom sink is very old and gross with water stains that makes it look dirty. You can not put your hands or toothbrush under the facet because it is too close to the sink. The heat went out twice although they were prompt when fixing it. It is a good thing it was not too cold or too hot outside. The building is a very old building that needs to be upgraded to the level of their other properties. We would stay in one of their other properties just not Hawthorne. We do love Charlotte and we visit often, because our son lives here. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, and a great areas to walk or run. Our dog Tessie enjoyed her walks.

Wonderful stay!
The property was exactly as shown. It was very clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfy as well. Some very nice welcome touches as well, such as a bottle of good Italian red, various liquors, spaghetti sauce with noodles, orange juice and muffins. Very thoughtful and much appreciated! The communication was quick and helpful. Also the location is dynamite. Beautiful neighborhood within walking distance of some great restaurants such as Cajun Queen and others. I don't usually write many reviews, but this was definitely one of the best rental experiences I've had. Kudos to Charlie :-)

4 Day Stay
We stayed in this unit and had a great experience! The apartment is charming and well decorated and the host left very thoughtful "welcome" treats which was so nice. The location is great, close to uptown/downtown and you can walk to a number of restaurants (we enjoyed walking our dog around the charming neighborhood). The apartment was spotless and everything about our stay was pleasant and convenient. Highly recommend!

Cute and cozy and very clean
Well accommodating with nicely selected wine and snacks. In house washer and dryer with detergent. Almost everything you would need is provided. The renter, Charlie, is very nice and was easily contacted to answer my questions. This house is conveniently located to the city, epicenter, great restaurants, uptown, South Park mall.. overall enjoyed my stay!

MARVELOUS....REALLY.
CLean. Beautiful. Easy access. Spacious. Tech savvy. Everything there to just live...classic combination of modern meets southern apt. And a sweet gesture of snacks and libation. Nicely thought out for a vacation place. And located so that walking everywhere was easy and ample free street parking.

Anniversary Trip
Our stay here in this trendy apartment was wonderful. Very clean and nice accommodations. They even let us come a little early as we arrived into town earlier than expected. Couldn't have been nicer. The attention to detail by the property managers was excellent. Would definitely recommend this property, and stay here again!

Truly Home Away-- Excellent
I am so happy I chose to stay here (The Hawthorne) instead of a hotel. The apartment was better than the pictures. It was large, clean and well appointed. There were very nice unexpected touches like fruit, sparkling water, wine, and local newspapers. Best of all, it was in a neighborhood where I could walk around and admire the homes and charm. It was only a few blocks to Starbucks and other local shopping such as bakery, restaurants, etc. It was perfectly located to access other parts of Charlotte, including downtown which was 5-7 minutes away. The bed and mattress were very comfortable and I slept well every night. Charlie made sure I arrived and got into the unit. I would certainly recommend this to my more astute travel friends and relatives. This is HomeAway done right. Bravo. Keith

What a great place to stay in Charlotte!
My husband, I and our two shetland sheepdogs stayed for four nights in the Elizabeth/Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte. It was a great location, 5 minutes from our friends in Uptown, convenient to everything! Our hosts were gracious and helpful, thoughtful and accommodating. The apartment reminded me of a railroad apartment in NYC where I grew up, but even better! Plenty of room, king size bed, wonderful treats left for us by our hosts, nice, cheerful setting, high ceilings, lots of light inside. Two blocks from a good park for the dogs. Good food nearby. We will definitely return! Thank you thank you thank you!
