"What a LOVELY stay! Very professionally managed hotel with wonderful services, great food and super-friendly staff. After 3 days there, it was hard to leave and I don't feel that way very often about a hotel. We love historic properties and this one did not disappoint us. We'd go back again in a heartbeat! "

"Place was large and clean. Kitchen large and well supplied. Elsewhere not enough towels, TP or linens. Flat is modern but without character, and strangely decorated. If you want character, try local inns or B+Bs. Location good and bad. Close to amenities: next to Tesco and block from Old Amersham High Street, with quaint shops, pubs, restaurants. However, location very noisy and too bright for sleeping. Difficult to tell from listing, but bedroom windows just metres from busy street and roundabout. Constant busy, loud traffic, with lorries, sirens, etc. Difficult to sleep, compounded by inadequate thin window coverings. Loud and too bright by early morning. Biggest problem was service. We were never brought the extra bed we were promised. The two beds (one a twin) not enough for 4. Even before I booked, I contacted the manager, who promised a cot/camp bed or air mattress. After I booked we exchanged many messages about it, until just before trip. We arrived, nothing. No promised extra bed or linens. I called the 24-hour emergency number, then emailed with the manager. He complained he'd have to go out and buy an air mattress the next day. Luckily, we were able to borrow a foam mattress that night from someone ourselves. But we didn't have extra sheets, pillows or blankets. I requested they be brought. They NEVER arrived. My daughter slept on makeshift foam mattress with spare blanket (although she was still happy) the entire week. I could not believe this bad service."
