Best time to go to London
Peak Season:
Despite the fact that this popular UK hub is always an active tourist spot, its peak season falls between June and September, then again around Christmas time. The spring months are considered the best time to visit as the weather is pleasant, and the parks and countryside are at their most beautiful.
Shoulder Season:
The shoulder seasons in London are April and May, and September and October. Flights to London are typically cheaper during these periods of time as there are fewer tourists. This is also a great time to travel to the city because there are plenty of sporting events and indoor entertainments to be had.
Off Season:
Experience the winter wonderland of London during the off season, and enjoy quiet streets and cheap rates. The off season falls between November and March, except for a couple of weeks over Christmas. It is a fantastic time to savor all London has to offer without the huge crowds and inflated prices.
London Airports and transfer information
Distance: 24km west from London
One of the busiest airports in the area, Heathrow offers many options for transport. Taxis and coach services are popular ways to get around; however, you can also get to the heart of the city by an hour long ride in the tube. You can also take one of the Heathrow Express trains, which will take around 15 minutes.
Gatwick Airport (LGW)
Distance: 40km south from London
Located in West Sussex, Gatwick Airport offers 200 coaches and local bus service, 12 trains to the centre of London and plenty of taxis. Train rides can take between 30 and 45 minutes to arrive in the city, while buses, taxis and cars can take about an hour to an hour and 30 minutes.
Stansted Airport (STN)
Distance: 48km northeast from London
One of the more inexpensive ways to travel to London from this airport is to take one of the many shuttle buses; however the journey will take around two hours. Taxis are a much quicker option, but are significantly more expensive. Train rides are also an option, and are cheaper than taxis and quicker than shuttle buses, with a travel time of around 45 minutes.
