Lovely, quirky and sexy main house with excellent food and service (but few digestifs and limited by glass options) but no path to our “shepherd’s” hut on rails. Wandered around in dark unsuccessfully to find shower and toilet access. Not evident this morning either. Huts did not lock, and smoke did not evacuate well so left window open overnight.

Amazing value. I realise that marco piere white owns the hotel and the expectation is Michelin dinining. But how can you expect to stay in such an amazing place and get dinner and breakfast for about£160? Definitely recommend.

Shepherds hut stay was an amazing experience, the wood burners inside and out were a lovely addition. Food was good but found the menu disappointing particularly when it came to the puddings

There were just a lot of disappointing elements here. The room hasn’t been properly cleaned - people’s belongings still under the bed and units. The room wasn’t properly cleaned during my stay, rubbish just piled up on a side unit. There was no wifi in the room. The bathroom was nice as were the trees outside.

A unique experience. Room beautiful, dining great, hotel amazing with beautiful antiques and fascinating artwork. Very quirky but wonderful. Grounds are quite overgrown but allows for wildlife . Can highly recommend staying here.

The hotel stay was good stay .The building had a charming historical vibe, although the grounds appeared slightly worn down. However, this was not a significant issue. The restaurants offered delightful meals with an interesting menu, and the food was good . The staff were all helpful and friendly, which is incredibly important. I would recommend staying in the main house, as the walk back and forth during a rainy weekend was less than ideal. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the lounge areas felt cold and unwelcoming, but it is understandable that they didn't have the fires on at this time of the year. Overall, it was a nice stay, and the location was perfect for visiting Bath and Tetbury. The toiletries provided were of good quality, and the only suggestion I have is to include bottled water in the bedrooms. Additionally, the door to the block away from the main building could use some tender loving care.

Absolutely astonishing. Have been using Castle Combe circuit for decades and had no idea this place existed and was so close. It's wonderful, just wonderful. Exquisite food, superb sommelier, beautiful ambience, art you could spend a whole day appreciating, super comfortable room. This place is a real gem.

Thoroughly disappointing. We arrived early from Surrey on May 31 and felt totally unwelcome We found someome in the kitchen to help us. My friend from Australia and I were allocated rooms 223 and 231. My room 231 was dark. There were no power points near a mirror, no table by the bed, just a big chest, too high. Poor lighting by the bed. Nowhere in bathroom to put toiletries. Unsure how to control blinds. Key to room very difficult to use; even porter had problems. Room 223 only an unsightly rail to hang clothes, no wardrobe. Door key also impossible. Even the cleaner on Sunday had problems. Food certainly not up to Marco standard. Wine expensive for mediocre standard. Asked if we could take remains of bottle away if unconsumed. NO. £40 corkage policy offensive. Charge of £5 for breakfast orange juice ridiculous.Choice of only one item for breakfast also crazy. No cereal apart from Granola!! Staff in evenings seemed uncoordinated. One member appeared 'out of it'. Staff at breakfasts good. No tourist information on the area available. Receptionist in the mornings clueless. We will not be recommending this establishment, and it will be remembered as our worst ever hotel experience.

worth a visit
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rudloe Arms, the hotel was quirky, the garden wild but peaceful. Parts of the carpeting on the landings was shabby. The dinner was excellent, the breakfast also very good but let down by the quality of the marmalade - it reminded us of golden Shred!

Unique & interesting experience
Held-up checking in and held-up checking out. Requested to pay bill twice, had already prepaid. Hotel booking system seemingly not the best. Other than that a really good stay. Room in separate block, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast along with staff superb, great service from everyone.
