A peaceful retreat!
This cabin and its location were perfect for getting away from it all! We loved hiking on the property, the pond, and sitting out on the front lawn watching the sunsets! The cabin is super cozy and had all we needed! The host was also extremely helpful and had great communication! We hope to come back in the future! Thanks for a great stay!

We had a great time at the cabin. Nick was a fantastic host. We really appreciated getting to see the bees and enjoyed the frequent visits from Graham and Teddy (two very loving golden retrievers).

Wedding retreat
My daughter was getting married at the Daniel boone historic home on Saturday. Friday night the bride and bridesmaid stayed on the property and we all got ready from the cabin. After that the new couple enjoyed the peace and quiet for the weekend. Location was perfect! Quiet and the most beautiful grounds.

Coziest Cabin with a Magnificent View
This darling cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Located in beautiful Defiance, MO, but nothing beats the view from the front porch in the most comfortable swing. The horses, the birds and lots of deer. We slept great in the extremely comfortable bed. One night there was some severe weather and Nick was so kind to offer us to come over and stsy in there basement. The owners are so very nice. We hope to return in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin so much. It was great being around so much nature for a change. Birds, horses, hummingbirds, chickens, fishing, visits from Graham (friendly dog of the owners) were some of the highlights. Close to several wineries and easy to get to. We will definitely be back

Absolutely perfect
This was just what we were looking for! So cozy! We brought several things with us just Incase we needed them and found that there was no use for bringing it! Kitchen is fully stocked to prepare meals. There was a fan and space heater. Chargers on night stands. And plenty of blankets to cozy up with on the couch. The horses were super friendly and would come to the fence when we stopped. The dog is super friendly too! We would love to go back and stay longer!

Heaven in the Hills!
This is a great getaway cabin - just click the book button, you won’t be disappointed in any way. Very clean, stocked with everything you would need and it comes with amazing views. The owners live on the property as well and are very nice and responsive should you have any questions. Coffee on the front porch watching dozens of birds come to the feeders and seeing the horses in the pasture was relaxing. A big plus were the visits from the owners golden retriever Graham! We are already planning another trip back in the spring and can’t wait to get back!

Relaxing Getaway
Had a great time staying at Nick's place. Very peaceful setting. Really enjoyed visits from Graham, Nick and Sunny's golden retriever! We were having work done on our motorhome in Wentzville, MO so we decided to head out to the country. Many great wineries in the area. The cabins' bedroom is on the 2nd floor loft; if you are older and your mobility is not that good, the spiral staircase at the cabin may be challenging for you.

Picture Perfect Cabin

The view from the front porch is sooo beautiful and relaxing! I wish the cabin had a large window that faced that way for the rainy days, but the cabin was very clean and cozy, the kitchen is well stocked with pans, utensils, etc. and we really enjoyed our stay. The property is close to wineries and hiking trails and we enjoyed walking down by the horses and pond too. It was a great place to celebrate our anniversary weekend!

Sole purpose for this trip was to bike the Katy Trail. The property is exactly as pictured. Quiet, peaceful, loved watching all the hummingbirds and birds at feeders. It was a great place to land. Nick was a wonderful host. Be sure to purchase eggs from Nick and Sunnys flock! Delicious!

Private fishing getaway
The property and cabin are lovely. All of the amenities you could need. Great location, close to several wineries and the Katy Trail. This is our second time staying at the cabin and I'm sure we will be back! Our kiddos love having easy access to the private pond for fishing.

Anniversary Getaway
Hillside Cabin was a wonderful spot for my husband and I to relax and talk. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed setting on the porch swing and watching the birds at the bird feeder. The cabin has a beautiful view and is close to several excellent hiking trials. We really liked Broemmelsiek Park. The host is great and quick to answer any questions. I highly recommend Hillside Cabin!

My husband and I attend an engagement party for a friend at one of the local wineries. This property was clean and in the perfect location. Offering serene scenery, from the fireflies/lightening bugs, to the birds using the feeders, we enjoyed being there every moment, we would definitely stay again. :-) Ps-don’t forget your fishing pole!

Just what we needed
My family and I very much enjoyed staying here. After a year of at-home work and school, we were ready to get away to this beautiful setting. Nick was very kind to us and answered any questions we had. His dog, Graham, was the sweetest pup and came by to play fetch with the kids every day. We enjoyed hiking around the property and visiting local restaurants/wineries, parks, and biking on the Katy Trail.

The cabin was wonderful! We loved the view of the beautiful rolling hills from the front yard. The fishing was fun too. We caught a giant bass in the little lake. We captured great images s of all the animals including the sweet hummingbirds. We will surely be back. AMAZING

Seriously...5 star experience!
This was one of the best weekend getaways we have had in awhile!! Everything was better than what we could have considered 'acceptably desirable'--everything was WONDERFUL. Nick and Sunny are a pleasure to deal with; very accommodating and responsive. I accidentally left my shaving kit, and Nick was kind enough to hold onto it until I could return to pick it up!! Talk about service! Now, the ONLY negative I have, is when we got there... the toilet paper in the bathroom was upside down... (c'mon now?! Who has their toilet paper from "under" the roll! It's supposed to be over the top!) But that's an argument for a different day. Clearly, this being the ONLY thing I can even come up with to suggest negatively, hopefully puts into context just how wonderful this experience truly was for us. I am confident that we will be returning guests for Nick and Sunny in the future!
