Watch the boats at the meeting of two grand rivers and inspect the replica of a momentous sculpture at the German Corner.

Deutsches Eck is a headland in Koblenz at the point where the Moselle and Rhine rivers merge. It is known for the replica of an iconic 19th-century equestrian statue of a famous German. Relax here with a vista of the water, taking in the serene atmosphere, scenic views and important history.

Inspect the replica of the statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I, initially built in 1897. After being destroyed in World War II, it was eventually reconstructed in 1993 following the reunification of Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Examine the acclaimed sculpture, which consists of the emperor on a horse atop an elegant pedestal.

See the three parts of the Berlin Wall that were installed beside the monument. Gaze up at the large German flag that is hoisted here alongside the flags of the 16 states of the country. They represent the unity that now exists in this nation.

Note that the name of the site means German Corner. The title refers to the geographical position at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers as well as the establishment of the Teutonic Order. This group from the 13th century comprises figures that focused on the nursing care of the people.

Make your way through the quaint streets of Koblenz, which is among Germany’s most quaint and historic towns. Churches, palaces and castles make up the fascinating architecture here. Explore the vineyards and forests of the scenic region surrounding the community.

It is free to visit the tranquil headland of Deutsches Eck at any time. Wander along the pleasant waterfront and take a break at a restaurant with views of the water. Ride the cable car over the Rhine to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.

Deutsches Eck is a little northeast of the historic centre of Koblenz. Arrive at the Koblenz Stadtmitte railway station and walk northeast for 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) to get here. Visit nearby attractions, such as the Ludwig Museum im Deutschherrenhaus, the Saint Castor Basilica and the Blumenhof gardens.
