We stopped at the Glenside after a day or touring the sites at Trim and Newgrange. We were very pleased. The staff was welcoming, the food was excellent and the housekeeping was fine. The parking was free and plentiful. The only negative was that the bed was quite a bit softer than we're used to. However, if was fine for a stopover.
This is not a new building, so if you're looking for something akin to central Dublin (at 4 times the price), you won't be happy here. However, after a tiring day, it's a great place to stop, have a fine meal and a pint or two, and spend a restful night.
The hotel itself is charming. The corridor has a series of historical black and white photographs taken by a very good local photographer. The dining room and reception area contained wonderful landscape photographs that are available for sale. In keeping with the photographic motif, the dining room is called Sepia, and contains antique photography equipment.
The hotel is a short drive from the Dublin airport. You can spend your last day in Ireland touring the sites at Newgrange, spending the night at Glenside, and driving to the airport in the morning.
