The House

What to wear?
As you will transfer from Mission Beach by boat you'll need to wade through shallow waters and assist with luggage/groceries from/to the beach, boat and is suggested that you have shoes that are easily removed, and maybe a change of clothes eg shorts. In winter the evenings can be cool so please pack some warm clothes.
What to pack?
Basically as little as possible. A few casual clothes and one pair of shoes, maybe some sandals or bring towels and linen as the house is fully stocked. Do bring some of your favourite books, magazines, hat, camera, sunscreen, toothpaste, Ipod etc. If possible do not bring lots of little bags, but a duffle style bag that is easy to manage. Consider packing a small back pack and reef shoes for outdoor exploration.
Water Transfers:
Guest have always complained about the additional cost of transfers to Bedarra Island. We now have our own water taxi to provide a very personalised service to the island.
You meet us at our mainland property where we load your luggage and supplies, we then travel together to Clump Pt whee we depart from. The voyage takes approximately 35-45 minutes.
On arrival at Bedarra
You will be met by our island caretaker's who will take you and your luggage and supplies to the house. Our caretakers will provide an orientation tour of the house, island and surrounds.
Time to relax?
There is chilled island spring water and ice in the fridge. Have a swing in the hammock before you unpack Any additional questions can be answered by our caretakers. If you any further questions they are only a phone call away.
Unpacking
We have conventional electric fridge as well as small bar fridge which is excellent for keeping your drinks chilled to the perfect temperature.
Who to call?
Hopefully no one, the house phone allows only local calls.
Power
The house runs on a sophisticated solar power system. The house was recently renovated and now has a massive 6.3kw system which has no limitations as far as normal use is concerned.
Water
This is a limited resource, please conserve it. The tap water is from an island spring, filtered, perfectly safe and wonderful to drink.
Waste
All garbage is removed by guests. Disposal of garbage is included in your Water Taxi fare. Please use strong garbage bags.
Departure
Your departure time would have been advised prior to your arrival. Our caretakers will contact you prior to departure to confirm the departure time. On the day of departure they will assist you with your luggage and rubbish.
Mobile phones and internet
Telstra mobile phones work very well on the island. Optus and some of the other companies do have problems. Telstra Bigpond wireless 3G internet device works well also. Our house now has satellite internet.
