This place seems to be a student dorm that has been repurposed as a hotel/hostel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a "shared space" common room at the end of my hall complete with a kitchen and refrigerator if you want to buy and prepare your own food. It is relatively close (short walk) to the train station and very close to a bus station making transportation convenient.

Needed id when arrived! No facilities in the room, coffee/tea, etc Defo student accomodatiin but priced at "normal". Kitchen with dirty pots. Won't be going again!

Very convenient for the fringe, bus service very good and easy 30min walk to centre. Tram station only 10mins. Quite basic accommodation but perfect for staying during The Fringe. The road was a bit noisy.

The room is very small, remember this is a student halls, so the room really is for one person, which is why you get one towel, even if two are staying. Sadly, considering what we paid and assuming how much a student would pay per year, the mattress really is cheap and offers little to no support. All internal areas were roasting and in the bedroom, we could only open the window slightly. The shared area was useful and clean and bathroom was decent, but its just the mattress and a lack of space for two people which was the issue. If you are ok with this, then book it, but dont expect a lot.

PRE-STAY -this may be an Expedia thing, but I booked cancellation insurance because I wasn’t sure about my exact dates. When I tried to cancel/switch, I was told I’d have to make a claim through a third party, blah blah… I found it misleading how the cancellation option was presented -Arran House didn’t respond to Expedia when they were reached to ask if a cancellation was possible (not even a ‘no’) CHECK-IN -very friendly staff upon arrival -checked me in early which was great after a long flight ROOM -room was perfectly serviceable -generally I found the building to be a bit humid, warm -lots of outlets -it’s clear an effort it made to maintain the place. -white paint patches in the room -very small and thin pillows -nice bathroom. The shower door was a bit difficult. -i didn’t need to switch towels or linens while there so can’t speak to their weekly housekeeping. -no blowdryer or anything – everything in the listing is accurately described. -small soap rack in shower -good wifi STAY -No secure refrigeration, but shared kitchen is helpful -secure building -doors slam very loudly so that might be a problem if you’re a light sleeper -easy self-check-out -surrounding area is just okay but it’s a short walk to things OVERALL -I’d agree with other reviewers that the staff is very friendly, the place is perfectly serviceable, but relatively overpriced for what you get.
