"This place looked like an old hotel that we probably bumped into this very year in a stepping-stone period towards its becoming a proper boutique hotel (perhaps I will go back next year to double check). As a matter of fact the reception was stunning but once you get in your room you have the feeling of having being trown in some kind of B&B that needs a lot of refurbishing asap. "Il Santavenere is definitely a 10/10 experience. From the moment you arrive you are in a true oasis - just what you want from a break by the sea. The staff are all (and I mean all) friendly, personable and helpful. The rooms are luxurious, including the beds and washrooms, without being overly showy. The views overlooking the sea are stunning. Maratea itself is definitely a nice little town and Il Santavenere is a hidden gem in Basilicata. We're already planning our next trip back and can't wait...
