Geriba Beach Tours and Activities

Geriba Beach which includes general coastal views, a beach and a coastal town

Revel in the lively ambiance of the bars and restaurants of one of the most popular beaches in the Búzios region.

Geriba Beach is a large stretch of golden sand with bars serving shrimp and empanadas. The tranquil sandy haven has warm water and fairly large waves that lure surfers to its shores. Rent a surfboard or stand-up paddleboard to join your fellow watersports enthusiasts on the waves.

Rent a deckchair and umbrella for the day and relax on the beach with a book. Sit at one of the restaurant tables spilling out onto the beach and try the excellent seafood. Beer and acai are on the menus, along with coconut water and other exotic specialties. Music emanates from the bars and some offer live performances.

Take photos of the scenic terrain, which includes golden sand, brilliant blue-green water and surrounding forested cliffs. Go for a swim in the refreshingly clear water and put on a snorkeling mask to see the range of colorful fish beneath the surface. Beachcomb or go jogging along the 1.2-mile (2-kilometer) strand, which is among the longest beaches in Búzios. Conditions can get fairly breezy and wavy, providing ideal surfing and windsurfing opportunities.

Purchase snacks, drinks and memorabilia from the many vendors that frequent the beach. Hats, T-shirts, jewelry and swimwear are also available from covered stands and roaming salespeople. Arrive early at the beach on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Stay for a few nights at one of the hostels and inns that back on to this scenic stretch of sand. Explore the quaint alleys of the sleepy fishing village behind the beach. Watch fishermen, other locals and vacationers passing by.

Geriba Beach is in the southwestern part of the promontory containing Búzios that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. Drive southwest from Búzios for 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to reach the beach in about 15 minutes. Other attractions in the area include Ferradurinha Beach, Ferradura Lagoon and Geriba Lagoon.
