Giant sequoias grow naturally only in California and require a very specific climate to thrive. Typically, they occur at higher elevations and are most easily identified by their impressive size. Some grow as tall as 300 feet (90 meters), while their trunks can be as big as 100 feet (30 meters) around at the base.

Learn how giant sequoias resist fire yet depend on heat to rejuvenate. Some of the exhibits are interactive have the kids take on the role of a sequoia seed and spin the giant wheel to discover their chances of survival.
The museum also features an on-site bookshop. Buy educational materials about the giant trees and the environment in which they thrive. The museum also has restroom facilities.
To see the actual towering trees, set off down one of the many self-guided trails in the area. The walking paths, many of which are equipped with boardwalks, bridges and fencing, allow visitors to view the majestic trees clearly without compromising the surrounding soil and landscape, which the giant sequoias need to survive.
